After the now usual early rainy start – we experienced yet another fantastic day at the van Giesen tournament. The numbers attending seemed to be more than ever, the sun came out, and the BBQ and refreshments were ever popular. As for the football, with the emphasis firmly on having fun there were still games to be won, semi-finals and finals to be played, golden goals and the inevitable penalty shoot outs.

Van Giesen Fun Day 2010

Junior winners were Italy beating Germany 5-4 on penalties.

Italy:  Ryan Darwen, Ben Clarke-Eden, Jack Woodruff, Charlie Sixsmith and Ben Grieshaber.

Intermediate winners were Holland winning 1-0 against the Czech Republic.

Holland: Julian Gurney, Danny Sadler, Michael Logan, Ben Reiley, Mitchell Cane, Matthew Kissell and Alex Lorimer

Senior winners were Ghana winning 1-0 against Mexico.

Ghana: Harry Williams, Harry Riseborough, Liam Embleton, James Williams, Rory Wood and Brandon Smith
