Alex ‘Sid’ Gardener scored the winner from the penalty spot in this pulsating encounter between the two Felpham Sides.
Harry Riseborough put Youth ahead on 17 minutes following good work from Alex Droupin, this allowed Riseborough to cut in from the left to place a low shot past the outstretched keeper. But just 5 minutes later and Colts were level with a well taken goal of their own and soon after that took the lead.
Youth tried to respond and when Riseborough was impeded Brad Lamberts free kick drew a good save from the Colts keeper.
Soon after the break Youth were back on level terms, Lambert combining with Riseborough who did the rest shooting low into the far corner. Riseborough then outstripped the Colts full back for pace and after a desperate lunge brought him down the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. And up stepped Alex Gardener to smash home the resulting spot kick!
Colts pressed hard for an equaliser but thanks to resolute defending and one spectacular save from Calvin Negus, Youth held on for a deserved 3 points.

Poor defending, great football, controversy, good goals and moments of madness, this game had it all.
Less than a minute elapsed before the hosts took the lead, poor defending by Colts allowing an easy run on goal.
Pete Nicholls blasted in a free kick to make it 1-1 before Calvin Negus conceded the first of two first half penalties to allow Beeding to re-take the lead. Brad Lambert equalised and Harry Riseborough put Colts 3-2 ahead only for Beeding to equalise from the spot after Negus was adjudged to have brought down the Beeding forward. Any protests he got to the ball first were waved away.
After the break Colts looked to have taken the game away from the hosts with two quick goals. First Lambert set up Riseborough to score and then Lambert got in on the end of a long clearance from Negus to make it 5-3. Beeding weren’t finished though and after Colts failed to clear a corner it was back to 5-4. A real piece of controversy led to the next goal as the ball appeared to everyone to have gone behind for a goal kick. The colts defence stopped, and with the linesman unsighted on the far side, the referee and the Colts players allowed the Beeding player to bring the ball back into play and he scored with ease to make it 5-5.
Injuries meant that Colts were forced to play out the final minutes with 10 men and at that point could have settled for the draw but with a minute left Brad Lambert worked a yard of space and hit a superb left foot shot into the far corner to win the game.

Felpham Colts Youth 4 Upper Beeding 1
Injury and illness meant Felpham would start this game without any substitutes and play out the entire second half with ten men.
Beeding took the lead with a powerful shot from the edge of the box which aided by the slightest deflection took the ball just out of reach of Calvin Negus’ full length dive.
Harry Riseborough was sent tumbling by the Beeding keeper and Alex ‘Sid’ Gardener levelled things up from the spot.
Just before half time Ryan Jones looked to have put Colts ahead but was ruled out for offside.
Things would get worse for Colts as Ben Eardley had to withdraw through illness meaning Colts had to play out the game a man down and with Riseboorugh and Matt Yates struggling with injury it looked like a big ask.
Whilst Felpham worked their socks off defending, holding on for a draw looked to be the best hope. Those hopes evaporated as Beeding were awarded a penalty but restored again as the resulting kick was screwed horribly wide. And moments later, to the delight of the home crowd Colts took the lead as Peter Nicholls throw was headed on by Riseborough for Alex Droupin to volley home.
Beeding pressed for an equaliser but Colts weren’t going to be denied. Peter Nicholls secured all three points grabbing too late goals with a powerful drive and then just beating the keeper to the ball to score from the narrowest of angles.
The whole team and supporters were elated and thoroughly deserved the win after such a hard fought game.
