Felpham Colts Youth 2    Bognor Regis Town Youth 1

This was the team’s best performance since it was formed last season against local rivals Bognor Town. Facing a strong wind in the first half the team was outstanding, defending intelligently with the outstanding Jimmy Munday leading the way. The team was trying to play their passing game but found the conditions difficult though they were unlucky to end the first half one nil down thanks to a well taken goal 5 minutes before half time.

The second half with winds on their backs the colts started to play some excellent passing attacking football which created chances for Lewis Cox and Jimmy Munday. The Colts nearly equalized when Jake Millers shot was superbly cleared of the line by Bognors Jamie Vivash. Finally with 10 minutes to go the Colts leveled through a great goal by Cameron Norris Guy who controlled a long goal kick, cut in from the left to the penalty box and smashed the ball into the top of the net. The Colts were now in control and took the lead with 4 minutes to go. The impressive Tom Riseborough sent a great through pass to Jake Arnold who coolly smashed the ball in to the back of the net. The Colts saw out the last 4 minutes for a deserved victory.

Felpham Colts Youth U10’s 1    Wick Dynamos U10’s 0

The Felpham Colts Youth team continued their recent good form with a hard fought victory against a lively Wick Dynamos team on a muddy Shrubbs Field pitch. It was Felpham who started the brightest and were rewarded with a wonder goal after 3 minutes. Eddie Simmons received a great pass from Fynn Cummings just inside the half way line. Simmons drove forward and unleashed a shot well outside the penalty box which flew into the bottom right corner of the goal. Felpham where on top now and in the first half their fluent passing game created chances for Mundy, the impressive Mike Logan in a unfamiliar midfield role and Jamie Aldred who twice came very close to scoring.

In the second half, the game was more even and the Felpham  defence  had to work to hard to keep Wick out, they were well supported by the hard working midfielders James Mears and Kaylem Haxton and goalkeeper Nat Roman had to make a fine low diving save, plus 2 other good saves. Near to the end of the game Colts had a good chance to wrap up the game when Simmons sent a great low cross into the box but Tom Riseborough’s first time shot was well saved by the keeper. In the last minute the Colts had to defend 3 corners but managed to hold on to a hard earned victory.

The Felpham Colts Youth team moved into the quarter final of invitation cup after knocking out a team two division above them after keeper Nat Roman made two superb saves in a dramatic penalty shoot out.

After a long lay off due to the bad weather Felpham started slowly and after 4 minutes found themselves 1-0 down when the Lancing forward used his paced to break down the wing and his cross somehow manage to squeeze into the goal. Lancing kept attacking but the Colts defence held firm. During the half Colts began to get into the game and near the end of the half Jamie Aldred and Thomas Risborough both had good efforts to equalise.

In the second half the Colts got their passing game together and Fynn Cummings and Lewis Cox had good chances to score. Finally with 10 minutes to go the Colts scored a superb equaliser  when defender Michael Logan pick the ball up from the half way line, dribbled the ball close to the Lancing penalty area and then his shot swerve onto the bottom of the left hand post and into the net. The colts were now on the up and Eddie Simmons had a good chance near the end of the half to win the game.

The game moved into extra time which was very nerve racking as both teams had good chances to win the game and there were goal mouth scrambles for both teams. The match went into penalties where all 4 Colts penalty takers kept their heads to score great penalties and they were supported by goalkeeper Nat Roman who saved the first 2 lancing penalties to put the colts through to the next round.

The Felpham Colts Youth team carried on their good form with a battling performance against a tough Bognor team on a muddy Bognor pitch.

The start of the game was very even with both midfields and defence cancelling each other out. In the middle of the half, Felpham got their passing game together and created a good chance for Jacob Miller but his shot just went wide. With 6 minutes to go before the end of the half Felpham passed their way to Jamie Aldred who was standing at the edge of the box he turned and shot which went into the bottom left corner of the net. Felpham held onto their lead to half time.

In second half Bognor started to push for the equaliser but the defence held firm with man of the match James Mears outstanding. In the middle of the half the game began to be end to end and both Cameroon Norris-Guy and Lewis Cox had chances to score for Felpham. With 5 minutes to go Bognors Jack Vivash broke clear but his hard shot which was going in the bottom left hand corner was brilliantly saved by Nat Roman. From there Felpham defended the last few minutes safely to secure a great win.

Felpham Colts   -  WE ARE GOING UP

With one game still left to play the Felpham Colts  went on a magnificent 12 game unbeaten run to clinch runners up spot and promotion. The run only came to an end when they lost to Worthing Town a team who are 3 divisions higher than them in the invitation cup semi final.

During this run the team recorded some memorable victories against Bognor Town, Lancing Rangers, Predators and Worthing Utd. This was an outstanding achievement considering this is only the 2nd season since this team was formed..  There were 15 boys who played this season and they all played their part for the team in this great achievement. They are as follows:-

Nat Roman – goalkeeper who was superb this season making endless brilliant saves and two great penalty stops against Lancing in the penalty shoot out.

Mike Logan – defender who again with Jimmy was a rock in defence and scored a superb solo goal against Lancing Rangers.

James Mears – played in defence and midfield this season. Always gave 100% for the team and was outstanding against Bognor Town away.

Lewis Cox – played the holding role in midfield, again vastly improved this season and has popped up with some important goals none more than Highdown Saints away.

Jamie Aldred – midfield who has played extremely well this season, his passing game has vastly improved and scored some important goals against Bognor and the goal against Predators which gave us promotion.

Finally Noddy and Neil would like to thank everyone for their efforts and we are both looking forward to 11 a side football next season.

u10 Youth at Bournemouth FC

The boys had a good great day, team bonding and seeing Bournemouth win 3- 0 against Walsall. The boys were a credit to the club this weekend, they represented the club superbly on Saturday at Bournemouth and after watching the Bournemouth team before and during the game. On Sunday, the 2 minute silence was impeccable, they linked arms, head down and silent, they followed this with their best team performance of the season winning 3 - 0 away to Sompting on a small muddy pitch.

The Club would also like to thank Bournemouth's No 19 Danny Hollands for his help organising the tickets for the trip and his continue support for the U11's team.
