Felpham Colts 3 Worthing United Youth 2
Felpham Colts Under 10’s are celebrating a notable double. Having won the Challenge Cup the previous weekend they secured the A Division league title after a thrilling encounter with main rivals Worthing United Youth at Shrubbs Field. The match was played in bright sunshine with both sides playing attractive passing football and each creating chances. Worthing took the lead midway through the first half with a shot from close range. This seemed to spur Colts on who began to dominate the game and so it was no surprise when the equaliser came in the form of a tap in from Liam Connolly following a goalmouth scramble on the stroke of half time. Colts took the lead in the second half with a fantastic lob and a second goal for Liam Connolly who was making up for missing the cup final because he was cup-tied. A defensive lapse lead to an immediate response from Worthing who scored from an open goal. Colts needed a win to secure the title. As the minutes drifted away it looked like they would have to settle for a draw and hope that other results went for them. Colts had other ideas and just as in recent weeks came up with the goods in the closing minutes. Lewis Faint picked up a ball on the edge of the box which he controlled and blasted in with his right foot giving the keeper no chance. 3-2 to Felpham Colts who celebrated a second successive A Division title. This really was a team effort and the whole squad can be proud of their achievements this season.

Under 10's Challenge Cup Final held at Arundel FC on Sunday 10th April 2011
Chichester City 1 Felpham Colts 2 (AET)
The Under 10's Challenge Cup Final between Felpham Colts and Chichester City was held at a sunny Arundel FC on Sunday 10th April. This was a thrilling encounter between two very evenly matched teams with Colts finishing up as worthy winners. Chichester dominated the early spells, playing attractive passing football which caused the Felpham defence problems. Felpham settled into the match gradually playing the flowing football which has served them well this season, using the pace of Jacob Vandriel up front. With chances at each end it was no surprise when the deadlock was broken. A long kick from Felpham goalkeeper Daniel Turner was flicked on from the head of Lewis Faint, causing problems in the Chichester box. In the melee Jack Dawling hit the post and Mason Haga-Hammond followed up to score for Colts. The awesome defensive pairing of Olly Humphries and Louie-Mockford-Allot, supported by midfield general Mason-Haga Hammond dealt comfortably with some clever Chichester attacks. Chichester deservedly equalised in the second half from a good move which resulted in a tap in. This seemed to sap the energy out of the Colts who had to dig deep. The final minutes of normal time were very tense and Colts keeper Turner made a fantastic reflex save to his left to keep Chichester out. Extra -time continued with both sides creating chances. The combination of Jack Dawling and the tricky Harry Waters in central midfield allowed Colts to regain their composure and pile on the pressure. In a tactical switch Olly Humphries was moved to a more forward attacking midfield position which suits the Colts style of play. Just as the game looked to be destined for penalties Lewis Faint drove down the left side, took on and beat a Chichester defender before crossing with his left foot for Olly Humphries to score the winner, much to the delight of the Felpham players and their vocal travelling support. The match was a credit to both teams who can be proud of their performances on the day. Colts man of the match was Daniel Turner.
