A message from the Chairman....It is so hard trying to write a blog about this years
tournament when I have been left speechless about how well organized and run it has
been this year. 143 teams enjoyed the two days and what a weekend it was. The weather
was perfect, the visiting teams were well behaved, the beer was cold, the football
was hot, the raffle prizes were outstanding, the food was top notch, the trophies
were big- I could go on and on all day. I was going to write here the names of all
the volunteers that made this weekend so successful but got worried that I would
miss one name and they would be upset at all their hard work going unnoticed so I
won’t. Instead there is a phrase in the Bible saying- ‘They call us Legion for we
are many’ -and that is how I will refer to the Tournament participants of this weekend.
On behalf of the children that attended this weekend may I give thanks to the Felpham Colts FC Legion of volunteers for all your hard work, time, dedication, commitment and fun that has made the Felpham Colts 13th Annual Festival of Football Tournament the best I have known in my tenure.
I would also like to thank all the sponsors of the Tournament for all their support and I will be contacting each and every one personally to show our appreciation.
There was a worry that other club tournaments were on the same weekend but all I will say to the teams that didn’t attend ours is you went to the wrong tournament and some of the 143 team managers who attended have already E-Mailed to confirm this.
I am sure we already have 143 teams for next year so we are going to try for a 200 team tournament for 2011 (Noddy will kill me for saying this but I don’t care) with more sideshows, events, and stalls than ever before. Read more...
